Van Meter, an employee-owned distributor of electrical products, needed a reliable disaster recovery strategy to ensure business continuity during a potential outage at its main network operations center. With annual audits requiring proof of a compliant plan, the company worked with ITsavvy to strengthen its previously ad hoc backup and recovery setup and prepare for a full system failover.

ITsavvy implemented a virtualized disaster recovery solution using EMC SAN storage, RecoverPoint, Avamar, and VMware Site Recovery Manager across Van Meter’s Cedar Rapids and Cottage Grove sites. The plan was successfully tested end to end, with failover taking about two hours and restoration about 1.5 hours, giving Van Meter documented evidence for auditors, seamless network upgrades, and metrics to guide future tests.
