Leading Provider of news, information, and Advertising Company, a leading midsize-market publishing organization with about 50 daily newspapers and nearly 300 specialty publications, was struggling with rapid server sprawl as its IT environment grew from roughly 40–50 servers to around 200. The company needed a way to centralize servers and storage, reduce backup costs, improve manageability, and preserve space, and it turned to ITsavvy for help with server consolidation, SAN storage, and virtualization.

ITsavvy implemented a solution built around VMware vSphere, EMC CLARiiON SAN storage, EMC RecoverPoint for disaster recovery replication, and CommVault Simpana with Quantum tape libraries for centralized backup. The project moved workloads off individual servers and onto the SAN, simplified backup and restores, and enabled virtualization to improve efficiency. The customer reported faster growth of its data center, better resource utilization, lower infrastructure costs, and the ability to meet IT needs with very little new capital investment.
