The Washington State Department of Commerce, responsible for fostering the state's economy, was managing Windows servers, Active Directory, WAN/LAN links, SAN and VMware environments across a central data center and remote offices. Their monitoring was split between Orion (external) and SCCM (internal), which left them either under-alerted or overwhelmed with detail and added cost and complexity.

They evaluated Nagios web interfaces and chose Opsview for ease of use, reliability and quick staff ramp-up, migrating existing Nagios plugins and moving from Opsview Community to Pro. Opsview replaced SCCM and largely replaced Orion, delivering smoother upgrades, proactive alerts, higher uptime, faster reporting and overall improved IT service with responsive vendor support.
