Glasgow City Council partnered with Itron to improve city services in Glasgow, United Kingdom. The council’s goals were to reduce energy costs, increase road safety, and promote cycling to support health benefits, while bringing together data from many city systems on a common platform.
Itron implemented the GenX Network Platform with dynamic streetlight dimming, SELC streetlight control nodes, Urbiotica noise sensors, and Axis Communications traffic cameras. The solution enabled adaptive lighting and open data sharing across the city’s IPv6 network, delivering 60% energy savings and more than 2.9k datasets available through Glasgow’s open data platform.
