Las Vegas Valley Water District needed a modern replacement for its aging, unsupported FC300 handhelds while maintaining accurate meter reads and giving field staff a more efficient, multipurpose tool. Working with Itron, the utility looked for a solution that would be easy to use, easy to train, and compatible with its existing meter population and field operations.
Itron implemented Field Tools, Itron Mobile Radio, and iPhone/iOS devices to give field technicians a simple mobile workflow for reading, checking, programming, and troubleshooting endpoints. The rollout was completed in less than a week, training was seamless even during the pandemic, and user acceptance was high. With Itron’s solution, LVVWD improved field efficiency, reduced equipment costs, eliminated antenna breakage issues from the old handhelds, and maintained accurate billing reads.
