Dominion Energy, a large utility serving 7 million customers across 16 states, needed better visibility into its AMI operations to gain insight into system performance, optimize network operations, and quickly find and resolve issues. To address these challenges, Dominion Energy worked with Itron and implemented Itron AMI Operations, supported by the Operations Optimizer platform and Endpoint Management Services.

With Itron’s solution, Dominion Energy centralized meter data, alarms, events, historical information, and work management in one place to improve back-office analysis and field efficiency. The results included 8,000 service point issues completed through AMI Operations in 2020, with 40% of service point issues automatically closed that year, while also managing more than 2.3 terabytes of data daily and streamlining processes through automation and analytics.
