United Tranzactions Leverages itopia to Ensure Business Continuity with Cloud Redundancy

United Tranzactions, the largest independent check guarantee company in the US, needed a better business continuity plan after Hurricane Irma highlighted the risk of its aging on-premises VMware Horizon VDI environment. The company also tested AWS WorkSpaces but ran into poor network performance, manual configuration complexity, and hidden costs, so it looked for a simpler cloud-based desktop, backup, and disaster recovery approach with itopia.

United Tranzactions migrated its workloads to Google Cloud with itopia, using features such as autoscaling, automated snapshots, centralized GPO and access control management, and custom machine types for right-sized VMs. With itopia, the IT team reduced manual work, improved security and patching, and strengthened disaster recovery and business continuity. The company reported that network performance on Google Cloud was about twice as fast as AWS, while cloud costs were reduced dramatically with itopia + GCP.
