Largest U.S. Domestic Airline Eliminates Configuration Based Downtime by Implementing Golden Configuration Across 3,500 Routers with Itential

a major U.S. domestic airline, responsible for over 134 million passengers annually, was experiencing significant network issues. Bad configurations were causing over 47 hours of production downtime per year, costing up to $1M per hour and preventing ticket sales and flights. They partnered with vendor Itential to automate and standardize configurations across their network infrastructure to eliminate these outages and improve security compliance.

Using Itential's Automation Platform and its Configuration Manager application, the airline implemented a Golden Configuration strategy. This allowed them to standardize and automate configurations for 3,500 routers and 1,500 devices based on location, while integrating the change management process. As a result, Itential's solution completely eliminated configuration-based outages and saved the time of two full-time employees previously spent on manual change management tasks.
