AARP's SongTheme™ custom Khoros extension

AARP, the nation's largest nonprofit for Americans 50 and older, had a popular song-based activity on its Khoros-powered online community that required complex third-party platform integration. The challenge was to turn this activity into a structured, gamified feature natively within the community, integrate it with Spotify and AARP’s member rewards program, and limit premium functions to paying members, all without requiring users to download additional apps.

iTalent Digital was hired to build a custom solution, resulting in the AARP's SongTheme™ feature. This allowed users to submit songs to themed challenges, listen to music snippets, and export community playlists to Spotify. The results were highly successful, with 26% of the community's unique visitors engaging in the activity and it contributing to 16% of all key member actions. iTalent Digital delivered a smooth process that significantly boosted engagement and supported AARP’s social mission.
