Case Study: Lagardère Travel Retail enhances Fiumicino Airport duty-free shopping with ITAB’s interior and lighting design

Engaging lighting & interior design for airport's duty-free area

ITAB Group partnered with its customer Lagardère Travel Retail, which aimed to expand and enhance the Aelia Duty-Free area at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport. The challenge was to design a new retail interior and lighting concept that would help travelers quickly find products and gifts while strictly complying with the airport's stringent building and fire safety regulations.

The solution implemented by ITAB was a co-created design featuring modern, bespoke fixtures. To meet fire safety rules, materials like wood were replaced with wood-grain metal sheets. The layout was optimized with two checkout areas to improve customer flow, service, and security. As a result, ITAB delivered an attractive, compliant, and efficient 3,000 sqm commercial space for its customer.
