A IT Craft Case Study
OrderPort, a USA-based SaaS point-of-sale, wine club and mobile commerce application for vintners, engaged IT Craft in 2013 to deliver a smart, fast and intuitive mobile POS. The primary challenge was that OrderPort already had partial code; IT Craft performed an in-depth code review, chose to fix and extend the existing codebase rather than rewrite it, and addressed complex integration and scalability requirements (payment gateways, printers/scanners, Mailgun/Mailchimp email integration, web administration synchronization, security and offline/data optimization).
IT Craft assembled a five-person team and used an iterative approach to deliver the OrderPort POS, email tool and web components, producing a production release and ongoing improvements (5,000 hours on the original POS, 11,000 hours on the Swift rewrite, and 2,000 hours on the web part). The result is a proven SaaS platform that supports in-store, wine-club and online sales across multiple locations, real-time inventory and payment processing, email campaigns and improved offline performance—enabling compliant, single-system management for vintners and broader device support with the new Swift version.
