A iSpring Case Study
Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) is a socially focused university with about 20,000 students and 1,600 staff. Facing an Executive Board audit, GCU’s learning team, led by Stewart Milton, needed to train 90% of staff in Information Security Awareness (and related modules) within 12 months and provide graded evidence of completion to meet compliance requirements.
Using the ADDIE design model, the team chose iSpring Suite for rapid authoring and Blackboard integration, developed four bespoke courses, standardized a branded player/template, and rigorously tested LMS reporting and accessibility. The program achieved a 94% completion rate—over 1,500 staff—within 12 months, exceeding the audit target; GCU now runs refresher training informed by focus groups and is piloting interactive simulations for further learning.
