The customer, a leading integrated energy company, faced the challenge of improving its business process management by migrating its business-critical Informix database to Teradata. This presented a unique challenge for vendor Ispirer Systems, as this specific migration path was not fully supported in their toolkit at the time. The project involved converting 100 GB of data contained within 1,000 tables.

Ispirer Systems first provided a free assessment tool to evaluate the migration scope. Their developers then extended their toolkit to support the Informix to Teradata direction and provided the tailored software to the customer. Using the Ispirer Toolkit, the customer successfully automated the migration of all data and tables. The solution was implemented very quickly and at a much lower cost than alternative options, resulting in a fully migrated Teradata database with only minor manual changes required.
