How to Use Exit Intent Technology to Convert Abandoning Visitors into Customers

Xero Shoes, an emerging business selling unique barefoot-style footwear, faced the challenge of high website visitor abandonment, a common and costly problem for online merchants. Suspecting that potential customers were skeptical of their unique product, they partnered with iSpionage to find a solution to re-engage abandoning visitors and convert them into buyers.

iSpionage highlighted the use of exit-intent technology, which detects when a user is about to leave a site. The implemented solution presented abandoning visitors with an offer to download a free report on the medical benefits of barefoot running. This strategy from iSpionage was highly effective, converting 2.5% of abandoning visitors into report downloads, and 28.4% of those downloaders subsequently made a purchase.
