S&P Global Eliminates Networking and Developer Team Silos With Cilium

S&P Global, a global financial information and analytics company, was moving from an on-premises setup to a 100% cloud strategy and needed a way to run Kubernetes securely and reliably across multiple clouds. As its applications were lifted and shifted into AWS, Azure, Alibaba, and other environments, the company faced challenges including IP exhaustion, limited observability, weak multi-cloud networking, and silos between application developers and network engineers. Isovalent’s Cilium-based Kubernetes networking platform was introduced to help address these issues.

With Isovalent Enterprise for Cilium, S&P Global standardized its Kubernetes networking across clouds using an eBPF-powered data plane, gaining capabilities such as multi-cloud connectivity, Layer 7 visibility, identity-based security policies, transparent encryption, and cluster mesh for multi-cluster use cases. The result was a more frictionless and reliable developer experience, with simpler networking and fewer operational burdens, allowing teams to focus on application development rather than infrastructure plumbing. S&P Global also reported that the solution improved consistency and scalability across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, while supporting future plans for micro-segmentation and deeper defense-in-depth.
