The Key supports over 75% of schools in England with Isotoma Limited

Isotoma Limited was engaged by The Key, a national information service for school leaders, to address the challenge of modernizing its digital platform. The existing system needed to present new types of information in more intuitive ways, particularly as user behavior shifted towards accessing content on mobile devices outside of school hours. The project involved migrating from the Plone content management system to a more suitable solution.

The solution implemented by Isotoma involved a careful migration of over 30,000 pages to a new Wagtail CMS platform, preserving all content and metadata. Key improvements included redesigning the homepage to promote topical content, optimizing article navigation by repositioning 'See also' links, and removing unused elements to enhance the user experience. As a result, The Key saw users staying longer and interacting more with the site. The service now supports over three quarters of schools in England, serving more than 100,000 registered school leaders and 17,000 governors each month.
