With 620 Stores and Counting, the National Eye Care Services Brand Supports An Expanding Volume And Selection Of Merchandise With Island Pacific

Visionworks, a national eye care retailer with 620 stores across 40 states and the District of Columbia (and plans to grow to 1,000 locations), faced a complex merchandise challenge: countless prescription and fashion permutations plus fast-changing assortments outpaced legacy planning tools. Relying on Excel exports and an older BI/stock ledger setup left the company with limited visibility into its deep merchandise hierarchy and made it difficult to keep popular frames on display and optimize store-level inventory.

To fix this, Visionworks implemented Island Pacific Planning (fully adopted by late 2012) and integrated Island Pacific Replenishment and Microsoft Analytics Services, enabling brand-level hierarchies, item-level service metrics, and near-instant reporting without IT delays. Planners now reforecast and adjust daily, improving allocation for top-selling brands, optimizing inventory turns, and giving merchandise teams the granular visibility and accountability needed to deliver the right product, place, and time as the chain continues to expand.
