Case Study: Sierra Metals achieves 360° shareholder visibility and streamlines investor relations with Irwin

A Irwin Case Study

Preview of the Sierra Metals Case Study

How precious metals companies are improving their investor relations by using Irwin's IR CRM and NOBO data to uncover shareholders

Sierra Metals, a Toronto‑headquartered precious and base metals producer operating mines in Peru and Mexico, faced a fragmented investor relations program when VP Mike McAllister joined in 2015. The company relied on Excel spreadsheets and found NOBO data expensive, poorly formatted and time‑consuming to work with, so they selected Irwin for its easy‑to‑use interface, modern design and targeting capabilities to centralize and track all IR activity.

Irwin implemented its NOBO solution, Irwin Mail and app-based shareholder database to consolidate reported, private and non‑reported holders and to enable targeted outreach and surveillance. The platform uncovered material hidden stakes (for example, a US family office that appeared to own ~1% via filings was shown by Irwin to hold about 7%, and a NY high‑net‑worth holder’s position rose from <1% to ~4%), improved communications and organization, helped place large blocks to avoid share‑price disruption, and allowed Sierra Metals to quickly diagnose a stock price dip—all demonstrating measurable IR impact from Irwin.
