Mechanical Design for a CD & DVD Printing Machine

GEPRO AB, working with engineers Göran Ewerlöf and Jonas Ahnmé, needed a CAD system capable of managing a complex mechanical design project for a new CD/DVD printing machine using flexo-printing technology. The team wanted to handle hundreds of parts, make geometry changes easily, and generate associative technical drawings; they chose IronCAD to support the design effort.

IronCAD provided the 3D modeling environment, scene browser, TriBall, and mechanism simulation tools that let GEPRO AB build, modify, and test the machine quickly and intuitively. The result was the EZ6 printer, a six-color machine capable of printing up to 100 discs per minute, with lower operating costs and award-winning design; it was successfully tested at Media Plant AB and won an honorary Miller Impression Award for Innovations/Design.
