Making Engines for UAVs with IronCAD

Currawong, a leading developer of engine powertrain systems for unmanned aerial vehicles, needed a better way to design complex engines and internal assemblies without the fragility of traditional, history-based CAD workflows. The company, led by CEO Gavin Brett, turned to IronCAD and its CAD software tools to move beyond simply drafting known parts and support faster design changes during engine development.

IronCAD implemented its Triball-based, constraint-light design approach with Intellishapes, giving Currawong the flexibility to quickly adjust parts, test ideas, and clean up designs before production without breaking the model. According to the case study, this made final design audits much faster, reduced the risk of errors in the design tree, and improved the ability to manage tightly packed assemblies as requirements changed.
