Regional Energy Provider Gains Control Over Outdated Field Records

A regional energy provider faced the significant challenge of gaining control over its vast and outdated field records inventory. Stored in dozens of disparate and sometimes hazardous locations, these records posed a serious compliance and information governance risk. To address this, the provider partnered with Iron Mountain and utilized its Content Classification Service to identify, sort, and classify the valuable documents.

Iron Mountain implemented a standardized, adaptable process to review and categorize the records across all 51 field locations. The solution successfully improved compliance and information governance. The measurable outcomes included the categorization and secure storage of 18,632 boxes of records, the identification and shredding of 1,600 boxes of non-records, the indexing of over 780,000 files, and the identification of 8,664 boxes eligible for destruction review, all completed within 27 weeks.
