Lahey Clinic uploads 7,000+ patient images with Iron Mountain

Lahey Clinic, a non-profit group practice, faced the challenge of connecting disparate patient information silos and improving continuity of care during its transition to an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. With over 1.2 million paper records, clinicians often wasted time searching for information across different formats and locations, which could compromise patient safety. To address this, Lahey Clinic partnered with vendor Iron Mountain to implement a more efficient solution.

Iron Mountain provided its Image on Demand solution to create electronic abstracts of the most critical portions of paper records on an as-needed basis. This allowed Lahey Clinic to quickly digitize and deliver vital information directly to clinicians at the point of care. The results included improved access to patient information, a more streamlined workflow, and significant progress in the EMR transition. The solution has already processed over 7,000 images and is expected to generate considerable future cost savings for Lahey Clinic.
