Credit Union Teams Up With Iron Mountain To Implement A Comprehensive Records Retention Program

Purdue Federal Credit Union faced a challenge in managing its vast and growing volume of digital and physical records. The credit union lacked a formal, sustainable process to classify documents and apply its records retention rules, which created compliance risks and operational inefficiencies. To address this, Purdue Federal partnered with vendor Iron Mountain to implement its Policy Center solution, a cloud-based retention and privacy policy management platform.

Iron Mountain provided a comprehensive solution by working with Purdue Federal to create a business-based retention schedule and map over 1,300 document types to the correct rules. The Policy Center platform was pre-integrated with the credit union's content management system, enabling the automated purging of digital documents. As a result, Purdue Federal achieved a sustainable and compliant records management program, automatically purging outdated digital files and identifying over a hundred boxes of paper records for destruction. The Iron Mountain solution provided a flexible system that ensures ongoing compliance with changing regulations.
