Preparing for MTD and optimising operations at Thompson Taraz Rand

Thompson Taraz Rand, a regional firm of chartered accountants and tax advisers in central Cambridge, needed to prepare for Making Tax Digital (MTD), modernise operations after acquiring a paper-based practice, and maintain organised client workflows while enabling remote work. To address this, the firm uses IRIS Software Group’s IRIS Accountancy Suite — including Practice Management, Accounts Production, Business Tax, Personal Tax, OpenSpace and IRIS Hosting — across its teams.

IRIS Software Group implemented the Accountancy Suite firm-wide, centralising job stages in Practice Management, migrating the acquired business to digital workflows, and enabling seamless remote access via IRIS Hosting. Combined with Personal Tax import features, CSV client workflows and IRIS training events, the solution smoothed the MTD transition, reduced the risk of missed deadlines, supported work across ~35 machines and multiple offices, and delivered a seamless migration and improved efficiency for clients and staff.
