Stofa selects Irdeto to protect new Android TV™ Set-top Box

Stofa, Denmark's second-largest cable TV and broadband provider, sought to provide subscribers with more choice and advanced services like VOD and OTT without a costly infrastructure overhaul. The challenge was to control access to this new content on their new Android TV set-top boxes while leveraging their existing network and supporting Chromecast devices. They turned to their long-time vendor, Irdeto, for a solution using its conditional access system.

Irdeto implemented its Key Management System and Rights and Rules Manager to protect and deliver live, VOD, and OTT content to the hybrid set-top boxes and Chromecast devices. This solution allowed Stofa to successfully launch the new service, achieving a good subscriber take-up rate without disruption or significant rebuild expenses. Irdeto's integration also secured valuable content for rights owners and extended device support using PlayReady and MPEG-DASH.
