A iQuate Case Study

Volvo Car Corporation - Customer Case Study

Volvo Car Corporation, part of the Volvo Group, needed better visibility into its global IT estate to manage Oracle software license usage and prepare for upcoming audits, with similar concerns also emerging around Microsoft and IBM. Because its environment was highly distributed and virtualized across thousands of servers, maintaining an accurate inventory was difficult, creating compliance and procurement risks. iQuate’s iQSonar platform was selected to help Volvo assess and understand its software footprint.

iQuate implemented iQSonar as an agentless discovery and application dependency mapping solution, scanning nearly 2,000 servers across multiple data centers to identify Oracle, Windows, SQL Server, and IBM environments. The results gave Volvo far greater clarity over software assets, helped optimize license positions, and reduced audit anxiety by turning compliance into an ongoing business-as-usual process. Volvo reported that it had “significantly exceeded” its savings targets, with iQSonar now embedded for continuous software optimization and compliance management.
