Onstak, an advanced global IT managed services provider, was brought in by a 100-year-old global enterprise to build a comprehensive disaster recovery program for a highly complex IT estate spanning eight data centers. The customer’s legacy environment included layers of applications and infrastructure, making it difficult to understand the current state and risky to pursue a simple lift-and-shift approach. Onstak turned to iQuate and its iQCloud platform to quickly uncover the environment and its interdependencies.

Using iQuate’s iQCloud, Onstak automatically created business service maps and discovered far more than expected: in one data center alone, more than 220 applications were identified versus the 60 originally estimated, many of them obsolete, duplicated, or unused. The visibility was delivered in just two weeks instead of an estimated two months of manual discovery, automating 80% of the application discovery process and driving 75% cost savings for the customer. With this insight, Onstak simplified the DR plan, removed unnecessary assets, and laid the groundwork for further cloud migration and data center transformation services.
