A IQGeo Case Study
Unitil, a public utility holding company serving electric and natural gas customers in Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts, needed to improve safety, compliance, and operational visibility across its network. The company wanted better data collection on new and existing assets, faster response to field observations, and a more reliable way to track survey completion than paper maps and “From/To Street Lists.” IQGeo provided the Inspection & Survey solution to help address these challenges.
IQGeo deployed Inspection & Survey to replace paper-based processes with digital, mobile survey tracking for driving, walking, leak, valve, meter, and corrosion inspections. The solution gave Unitil a clear audit trail, real-time field/offline data access, and easier reporting of current and historic activity, helping the utility prove compliance and improve asset data accuracy. By 2017, Unitil had achieved all six operational goals set in 2011, improved operational efficiency, and produced verifiable, traceable audit records that supported safer leak survey and risk management work.
