Counties Energy, a New Zealand energy company with more than 46,000 customer connections, needed to improve high-volume asset inspection processes for poles and pillars. The work had been handled on paper plots and Excel files, and the company also wanted a solution that could track inspection status, be easy for field teams to use, and be configurable for new inspection types, with integration into IBM Maximo and GE Smallworld. IQGeo provided the geospatial software used for this effort.

Using IQGeo Inspection & Survey, Counties Energy digitized its pole inspection process so field teams could capture inspection results and notes quickly on mobile devices. The documented results are passed into IBM Maximo, which serves as the primary repository for asset inspection records. The new process has been well received by field teams, improving speed and usability for inspections, and IQGeo helped deliver a flexible workflow that can support additional inspection types.
