Seeking an upgrade, the City of Oakland contracted IPS Group, Inc. to modernize its meters with IPS smart meters and a Data Management System.
IPS Group, Inc. retrofitted Oakland’s single- and multi-space meters with remote management and real-time alerts, enabling faster repairs and detailed transaction reporting. The upgrade raised meter uptime to 97–100%, drove credit card usage to 61%, halved daily coin collections, and cut repair time from about a week to one day—providing measurable revenue protection and data to support dynamic pricing and future expansion.
