The City of Columbus sought to improve downtown parking convenience, accessibility and payment options after multi-space kiosks proved confusing. To address these challenges the City partnered with IPS Group, Inc., piloting and then deploying IPS credit card‑enabled, solar‑powered single‑space smart parking meters and lowering 91 wheelchair‑accessible meters for easier use.
IPS Group, Inc. installed roughly 5,000 single‑space meters (with a later upgrade plan to the M5 model) and integrated enhanced payment and management features. As a result credit card usage rose to 40% of transactions, overall meter revenue increased 32% (13% year‑over‑year), and customer convenience and service levels measurably improved.
