Singapore Government Extends National Digital Identity programme with iProov

GovTech Singapore, the government agency behind Singapore’s Smart Nation and National Digital Identity (NDI) programme, needed a more secure and convenient way for citizens to access digital services online without relying on passwords or SMS one-time passcodes. Working with iProov and Toppan Ecquaria, the agency introduced face verification for SingPass users to improve authentication across government and private-sector services.

iProov’s Genuine Presence Assurance facial biometrics were implemented as a cloud-native face verification solution, integrated with GovTech Singapore’s digital identity infrastructure. The system now lets around four million SingPass users verify themselves quickly on computers and kiosks, improving security, privacy, accessibility, and convenience while also reducing password reset administration and enabling businesses to tap into trusted national identity services.
