iProov to Provide Contactless Travel Entry for Eurostar as Part of Railway Innovation Initiative

Eurostar, the international high-speed rail operator, wanted to make passenger journeys faster, safer, and more contactless while reducing physical ticket and document checks at St Pancras International. To support this challenge, Eurostar worked with iProov on a facial biometric corridor and pre-boarding verification process for travel entry.

iProov provided spoof-resistant biometric authentication using its patented controlled-illumination technology, enabling passengers to scan identity documents in the Eurostar app and then verify themselves before travel. The result was a contactless boarding experience with accelerated pre-boarding, reduced need to show tickets or passports again until arrival, and improved protection against fraud, including deepfakes, photos, videos, and masks. The solution was planned for live operation by March 2021.
