iProov to Provide Biometric Technology for Estonia’s Digital Identity Program

SK ID Solutions, the provider of Smart-ID for Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, needed a secure way to let users renew accounts and authenticate online without visiting a branch. To meet this challenge, it worked with iProov’s facial authentication technology, alongside InnoValor’s ReadID NFC document verification, to enable remote identity verification for its digital identity program.

iProov’s Flashmark facial verification was deployed in Estonia’s state-certified Smart-ID service, where users scan their ID document and complete a 3-second biometric check to prove they are the right person, a real person, and present right now. The solution achieved international eIDAS conformance certification, including authorization for Qualified Signatures, and set a world-first for biometric, cloud-based, machine-learning-enabled authentication.
