DIBICHAIN, a collaborative project including Airbus, faced the challenge of mapping product life cycles to enhance the circular economy. While distributed ledger technology (DLT) could provide the needed transparency, companies in the supply chain were unwilling to expose their sensitive identity and manufacturing details. To address this, they partnered with vendor iPoint Systems.

The solution implemented by iPoint was a prototypical application based on its SustainHub. This enabled supply chain actors to anonymously request, declare, and publish key product information like carbon footprints and recycling data onto the blockchain. The result was a functional software demonstrator, developed using an aircraft component as a use case, which successfully balanced the need for transparency with the requirement for corporate anonymity.
