Hull University Students’ Union was using the on-premise system Exchequer, which was hosted on a university server. When the university had a policy of moving everything to the cloud, the Students’ Union was forced to seek a new solution. Their challenge was to find a cloud-based accounting system from a vendor like iplicit that could handle their complex finances, which included a charity and a commercial trading subsidiary with diverse services.

The solution was the implementation of iplicit's cloud accounting software. The results were substantial time savings, with the finance team reporting that the time spent on VAT returns was cut in half. The team also found the system intuitive to navigate and reported significant efficiency gains in balance sheet reconciliations and processing transactions. iplicit’s Excel integration and forthcoming accounts payable automation were highlighted as key features driving further improvements.
