A iPass Inc. Case Study
A large Australian airline wanted to cut operating costs by reducing the weight of paper carried onboard and improving connectivity for its flight crews. The airline turned to iPass Inc. and its global Wi-Fi service to support a move from paper-based flight materials to digital records on crew iPads.
iPass Inc. helped the airline equip nearly 3,000 employees with iPads and Wi-Fi access, enabling pilots and crew to download flight plans and stay connected worldwide. The result was less onboard weight, lower fuel and flight costs, improved productivity, and the digitization of paper workflows; an audit also showed crews using about 300 GB of Wi-Fi data per month, which would have been prohibitively expensive on cellular networks.
