Virtual Technologies and Solutions - Customer Case Study

Virtual Technologies and Solutions (VTS), an internet service provider in Burkina Faso, faced the challenge of extending its network capacity and connecting cities like Ouagadougou and Dakola over 200 km away, all while being limited as a land-locked country with difficult access to international transit cables. To overcome this, VTS partnered with vendor IP Infusion to deploy its OcNOS network operating system.

The solution implemented by IP Infusion involved running OcNOS on the Telecom Infra Project's Cassini open packet transponder platform. This created a 200 Gbps fiber link, the first of its kind in Burkina Faso, connecting VTS to undersea cables in Ghana. The results included a dramatic increase in bandwidth, a reduction in the cost per bit, and the adoption of network automation for faster service provisioning, fundamentally improving internet access for the country.
