Nextlink Internet expands middle mile across 11 states with IP Infusion

Nextlink Internet, a fast-growing ISP serving nearly 100,000 customers across 11 rural Heartland states, needed to cost-effectively scale its transport and aggregation layer. The challenge was to find a solution that aligned with open standards, integrated with existing automation tooling, and maintained high performance to support its expansion of affordable broadband access. They turned to vendor IP Infusion for a solution using its OcNOS software.

IP Infusion implemented its OcNOS SP and OcNOS DC network operating systems on Edgecore open hardware. This solution provided advanced traffic engineering with Segment Routing, MPLS, and ISIS on 100G and 400G platforms, all integrated via NETCONF/YANG automation. The results gave Nextlink a scalable, open-standards transport foundation for middle-mile and data center operations, eliminating the need for a separate operating model and supporting their goal to close the digital divide cost-effectively.
