A IP Infusion Case Study
Mundo Pacifico, a regional Internet Service Provider in Chile, faced the challenge of expanding its network capacity to new and existing cities during a period of unprecedented traffic growth, driven by traditional vendor-locked and expensive DWDM systems that lacked agility. The legacy infrastructure was CAPEX and OPEX heavy, making it difficult to scale services like IPTV, voice, Internet, and VPNs for both business and residential customers.
IP Infusion provided its OcNOS network operating system on open, disaggregated hardware, including the Cassini packet optical transponder, to create a modern, converged network. This solution enabled Mundo Pacifico to significantly reduce both CAPEX and OPEX, increase data throughput, and add capacity on-demand with a pay-as-you-grow model. The implementation successfully delivered all required services with stringent performance metrics, providing a future-proof and agile alternative to costly, proprietary systems.
