A IP Infusion Case Study
A major Japanese railway operator faced the challenge of replacing an end-of-life 10G transport system that limited new services and lacked headroom for growth. The legacy infrastructure also failed to provide the necessary traffic segmentation between operational technology and IT, while safety-critical rail operations demanded a hard sub-50ms resiliency requirement. The vendor, IP Infusion, provided its OcNOS network operating system as part of the solution.
IP Infusion, alongside 1Finity, implemented a solution using OcNOS on UfiSpace S9510-30XC routers at each station, with L2VPN EVPN over SR-MPLS. This provided secure, scalable Layer 2 services integrated with a new 100G optical backbone. The results were a more than tenfold increase in backbone capacity to 100G+, sub-50ms protection, and the successful segmentation of operational and IT traffic, fully retiring the legacy platform.
