How a major government agency built and shipped a mobile application for taxpayers in just two months with Ionic

Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA), a government revenue administration, needed a faster way to help taxpayers file returns on mobile while keeping development costs down and supporting both iOS and Android. After earlier attempts with jQuery, vanilla JavaScript, and Cordova proved too difficult for building responsive mobile UI, the team turned to Ionic’s Framework and its Enterprise Support, Advisory, and Training services.

Using Ionic, the MRA team built the first version of the MRAeasy app in just two months, with help from Ionic’s customer success and solution experts. The app launched on iOS and Android for more than 200K users, streamlined PAYE and contribution filing, and gave MRA a maintainable, cross-platform foundation for future mobile updates and DevOps improvements.
