American Automobile Association (AAA) partnered with Ionic to modernize its mobile app experience for more than 62 million members across 20 clubs and regions. AAA needed a single app that could maintain brand consistency while allowing each club to operate independently, and its existing native iOS and Android apps lacked the agility to keep up with changing content and deployment needs.

Ionic provided a flexible hybrid app solution using Ionic’s reusable UI components, Capacitor, Identity Vault, ACA biometric authentication, and Appflow live updates. With Ionic, AAA can push updates without lengthy app store delays, support both iOS and Android from one codebase, and let clubs deploy autonomously; the app now receives live updates 2–6 times per month per club, and AAA reported its app store rating improving from 2.1 in 2018 to 4.3.
