Xcel Energy, a leading U.S. utility shifting toward renewables, needed to modernize its CTRM software ecosystem to replace fragmented, spreadsheet-driven processes and support expanded trading and hedging across power and gas. To achieve this, Xcel Energy engaged ION and its TriplePoint commodities trading and risk management (CTRM) software, using ION Professional Services to manage the upgrade.
ION Professional Services led a controlled migration to the latest TriplePoint release, rationalizing infrastructure and consolidating trading, transportation and storage into a single data source. The upgrade enabled the gas balance board and an improved valuation engine that cut trade-processing times from hours to minutes, reduced operational risk, extended trading to power and gas, and delivered greater efficiencies and productivity — all completed on time and on budget by ION.
