VSP Vision Care, a global vision-insurance provider, wanted to grow its direct-to-consumer audience but found many prospective customers struggled to differentiate between its plan options. Building a custom product selector and savings calculator was expensive—nearly double the cost of an Ion Interactive subscription—so VSP sought an interactive, cost-effective way to educate buyers and guide them to the right plan.
Using Ion, VSP launched a state-specific savings calculator and a product wizard that integrates geo-location and a third‑party database, applies built-in logic to recommend plans, and passes selections through to enrollment. The tools cut development cost, increased engagement, and drove traffic: 98% of users found the wizard useful (about one-third called it extremely useful), 90% said it provided important information (over a quarter said extremely important), and the savings calculator delivers instant, persuasive savings estimates.
