A Ion Interactive Case Study
The City of St. Gallen, a Swiss municipality of about 80,000, struggled to turn its active social media presence and an award-winning but login‑protected platform into meaningful citizen dialogue. Frequent posts on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram weren’t enough to aggregate information or foster two‑way discussion, and the communications team needed a simpler, more engaging way to share administrative updates and live parliamentary coverage.
In 2015 the city implemented Rock Content Engage, rolling out a live blog, aggregated social feeds and topic channels with vendor training and internal management. The platform made daily updates mobile‑friendly, enabled color‑coded live parliamentary threads, let residents interact without social accounts, and improved citizen engagement—earning praise from local MPs and media and paving the way for expanded live chats and project coverage.
