CBC Reaches Half of Canada with their Digital Coverage of the U.S. Presidential Elections

CBC News, Canada’s national broadcaster, faced the challenge of delivering fast, accurate, multi-platform coverage of the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election to a highly engaged Canadian audience. They needed to coordinate 13 reporters across the U.S., push real-time updates to digital, TV and social channels, and maintain editorial control and moderation during a high-traffic, high-stakes event.

CBC used Rock Content Engage to build an Election microsite—featuring a pinned live video broadcast, reporter livestreams, a real-time electoral scoreboard and a Twitter feed—and relied on Engage’s Moderation Hub to vet and publish updates. The approach kept coverage centralized and moderated, reaching half of Canada, peaking at 45,000 concurrent viewers and yielding an average session time of 19 minutes.
