Using Hummingbird to Manage Employees and Tenants

Vertex Pharmaceuticals, a fast-growing Boston-based biotech, consolidated 11 smaller buildings into a new 1.6 million sq. ft. headquarters to house 2,000+ employees, labs and tenant incubators. The move created a complex, shared campus with strict IP and security needs, so Vertex needed a single, integrable platform to manage occupancy, tenant billing, compliance and everyday workplace usage.

Vertex implemented iOFFICE Hummingbird (with the Insights module, Workday integration, sensors and Wayfinding) to deliver real-time location and occupancy intelligence, convert facilities software into a tenant billing and compliance system, and enable QR-based booking of rooms and equipment. The solution provided accurate portfolio-wide data that feeds other systems, streamlined billing for tenants and parking, improved space utilization and the employee experience, and positioned Vertex to expand reservation and mobile mail capabilities.
