Omni-channel Retailering Company, a Seattle-based Fortune 500 omni-channel retailer, needed an e-commerce fulfillment automation solution at its Cedar Rapids, IA distribution center to handle rapid growth in single-item orders and inconsistent manual packing processes. They engaged Invata Intralogisitcs to expand a prior shoe-focused system to cover apparel, accessories, and cosmetics and to integrate with their existing material handling system and Manhattan Associates WMS.

Invata Intralogisitcs implemented two parallel automated packing lines with carton erectors, LPN barcode tracking, fugitive-glue securement (eliminating void fill), and FastTrak warehouse execution software to marry UPCs to cartons and bridge gaps with the site’s WMS/WCS. The solution delivers up to 50 orders per minute (3,000 orders/hour), requires only four operators, improves order accuracy and customer opening experience, reduces packaging waste, and cuts labor costs by nearly $1 million annually.
