A Invata Intralogisitcs Case Study
The Marine Corps Institute, the U.S. Marine Corps’ center for occupational training and its second-largest postal operation, was struggling with an antiquated, hand‑sorted fulfillment process that left Marines waiting days or even months for course materials. Invata Intralogisitcs was brought in to modernize the historic facility with a tailored warehouse design using Invata’s FastTrak® Warehouse Control System plus conveyors, small‑parcel sorters, a horizontal carousel and Pick‑to‑Light to address space constraints and high volume (roughly 2,000 orders per day).
Invata Intralogisitcs installed a serpentine, multi‑level conveyor and sortation system integrated with Pitney Bowes Ascent shipping software and barcode readers to combine items from two separate storage areas, auto‑generate labels, and verify order contents. The upgrade produced measurable results: consistent next‑day shipping (eliminating prior multi‑day backlogs), continuous 24‑hour turnaround on orders, restored staff capacity for other duties, and much faster, more reliable fulfillment for Marines around the globe.
